stores of interest (local sfbay)
May. 19th, 2007 06:55 am*Know Knew Books is a used book store on California Ave in Palo Alto. They're getting rid of their entire stock and starting from scratch. Everything in the entire store is 50% off. Bookstore danger alert! Pass it on.
*I visited Elephant Pharmacy earlier today. It's in Los Altos on El Camino near the Rasputin that just took over the old Tower location. It's a "natural pharmacy" - sort of the Whole Foods version of Walgreens. Much like Whole Foods, it seems to carry a lot of fairly pricey items geared towards making you feel "natural." They have large selections of yoga mats & accessories, cosmetics (a whole *ton* of skincare stuff, but also makeup), a really super awesome herb selection (jars of loose herbs for cooking and healing, Western, Chinese and Auyervedic (sp?)), supplements, and other standard drugstore items upgraded to liberal rich hippie versions - food, storage systems, baby stuff, petfood, etc. They also have a real pharmacy counter, which is kinda cool. The people who work there all seem to have drunk a little too much of the Kool-Aid, but otherwise were friendly and helpful. It was fairly empty, so I hope more people buy stuff there. A lot of it isn't my thing, but it makes me happy that it exists.
