Fox and I went to go see Brian Eno's 77 Million Paintings tonight, and it is so insanely brilliant. I normally find 'video art' to be kind of pretentious or boring, lacking in engagement. Not this! It's a huge room full of sound and color. There are three large screens running his generative painting software - elements fade in and out at random, mixed together out of unique created elements. The sound does the same thing, and there are speakers all around the room so it's also geographic. I am a very wordy person, and generally experiences that don't involve direct interaction with other people or some sort of talking tend to leave me cold, but this was absolutely fucking amazing. Something about the way the patterns of the color and sound shifted and moved together and apart really engaged me. I laid on the floor for hours with maybe a hundred other people, simple amazed. I really can't do it justice with words.
It's only playing one more night - Saturday the 30th! If you can get to San Francisco, you *really* should go see this! ...And not that I'd ever endorse illegal activity, but for those of you interested in certain types of mushrooms and weeds, this might be a fun experience to mix in.

You can also buy a DVD of the program itself to run at home.
