Antero Alli is a film maker, an author, an astrologer, a mystic, and an old school Discordian and friend of Robert Anton Wilson. You may have heard of his book Angel Tech, a guide to self-initiation. He's collaborated with Rob Breszny, and if you've seen those gorgeous collaged divination card images on Rob's site, those are Antero's work too. In short, Antero Alli is someone you should look into.

Last night, I attended the premier of his most recent film, The Mind is a Liar and a Whore. It is dedicated to Robert Anton Wilson, and it is one of the most fitting tributes I can think of (strange that it was already completed by the time RAW exited his body, and yet down to the Illuminatus! poster on the wall that just happened to be in the house they were filming at, this is a perfect memorial). The film follows the story of a group of people trapped inside their home together as their city experiences a bioterrorist attack. They question the world, each other, and their selves as they try to somehow make sense of the events going on around them. I won't say any more lest I spoil it for you. This film manages to capture the flavor of RAW's writings, the humor of the mundane and the profundity of the absurd. Find a way to see it.

Antero's films are rarely screened, only for small groups for one or two nights. If you can get to San Francisco this February 3rd, you can meet Antero in person.

This film (and all of Antero's others) are now available on DVD! If you're too busy, too far, or simply enamored of his work, buy yourself a copy. I highly recommend them (all).

He's on my list of writings to chase down. I've heard of Angel Tech, but getting hold of it's another matter...

Huh, I got my copy from Amazon, though I guess that was a couple of years ago. Email Antero if you're having a hard time finding it, but I didn't have a difficult time at all.

Btw, I know your budget may not allow it, but I did want to personally invite you to the Robert Anton Wilson Memorial Weekend. Any time you want to come visit, you're more than welcome to stay with me.

I'm touched. Thank you.

If I could make it, I would. One day, with luck, I will.

Oh, also... are you ever on AIM or YIM? Say hi sometime. (I'm often around at odd hours, which seems to correspond with normal hours in .au.)

Feh. GTalk does not work in Trillian. :/ I suppose I can set up an account, but that will take a while and I think I will sleep first. I'll try to get it set up soon, though.

also, link to how to config gtalk in trillian. http://www.google.com/talk/otherclients.html
except now I see it's only the paid for version of trillian that has jabber. :( there are pure jabber clients. there's a gtalk client. Gaim does multi clients.

_Angel Tech_ was out of print for a while, but came back into print last year - I think the new edition is from New Falcon Press. Amazon has it in stock currently (I just checked.)

Yis, I know.

Unfortunately, my bank account is out of stock at present.

Let me know how long this remains the case. If I win the race to get out of Brokeland before you do, I'll send you a copy.

I was all, "Hey! I know that girl!" :}}

It was excellent. Your voice in particular has a really lovely quality to it that came through wonderfully.
