As of today, I'm a trainee moderator in vaginapagina! I'm really excited about this new, er, position.

It's kind of like a job, and it's a big deal to me. I've been wanting serious volunteer work for a while, and this is pretty much everything I could have asked for: it's sex-positive, awesome, people-oriented, time-flexible, and though it's a significant commitment, it can be done in the course of my normal internet addiction. I'm honored to be part of such an awesome community that is changing lives by sharing information and de-shaming sex. I'm really excited to be working with a great team of women, some of whom I've looked up to for quite a while.

When did the "no men" rule go away?

There's never been a "no men" rule that I've been aware of. The community is for discussion of the sexual and reproductive health of bodies that are, were or are becoming female, but anyone is welcome to respectfully discuss such things. I've seen straight men asking questions about their girlfriends there before, and FtM trans people asking about their vaginas and MtF trans people asking about their vaginas.

When I first heard of that community (through enthusiastic recommendations from women on my flist) some years ago, I recall looking at the info page and discovering that the "safe space" rules went so far as to exclude men entirely. But perhaps I recall incorrectly.

Interesting; that's not been my experience with the community. Granted, I have not seen very many men posting, but every time I have, there always seem to be a ton of comments saying how awesome it is that the guy is asking about his girlfriend/wife/etc.

The community has grown substantially since it was founded in 2001, this may have been an old rule (or another community entirely).
